Shearing on Nash Island and Big Nash Island took place on May 29th. The threat of rain and rough weather moved the schedule up a couple of days, but a cool morning turned into a warm afternoon with some passing sprinkles that never quite turned to rain. As the newcomers we had a lot to learn. The day was truly a dream come true.
These hearty sheep live in wild conditons and their strength shows in the wool. The fleeces are fog-washed and lusterous. They are delightfully free of vegetable matter. The wool is long stapled and next-to-skin soft.
